Why trust these rankings
Independent
No manufacturer influence and no sponsorships. Affiliate commissions fund the site and never affect how anything is ranked.
Grades you can verify
UTQG, warranty and 3PMSF are printed on the sidewall or the spec sheet. Every number we use is checkable.
Tests over marketing
Where an independent test exists for a line, it is the largest component of the score and we link to it.
Common questions
How do you rank tires?
Each tire line is scored on warranty miles per dollar, UTQG treadwear and traction grades, the 3PMSF severe-snow symbol, speed rating, warranty length and independent test results. See how we rank.
Why are prices shown for one size?
Tire prices vary by size. Every category uses one common reference size so lines can be compared fairly; your size will differ, and the retailer price at checkout is what applies.
What is 3PMSF?
The Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol means the tire passed a standardized acceleration test on packed snow. It is the difference between an all-season that is merely legal in winter and one that works. Read 3PMSF vs M+S.
